Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Oracle Exadata DBA for managing and optimizing Oracle databases hosted on Exadata and Linux platforms within the AWS cloud environment. This role includes ownership of application schemas, database design, extensions, and ongoing support across development, test, and production environments. The position requires strong expertise in database performance tuning, administration, replication, and high‑availability solutions such as Oracle Data Guard.
This individual will play a key role in leading database strategy and implementing best practices for large‑scale, high‑volume application systems. They will collaborate with development teams to support application modernization initiatives and ensure database components are designed for scalability, reliability, and optimal performance in AWS.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain Oracle database environments (development, test, production) running on Exadata and Linux in AWS.
• Collaborate with application developers to define data requirements, design tables and schemas, and assist with SQL development and optimization.
• Support application modernization efforts by providing robust, scalable database solutions.
• Lead the design, implementation, and management of application schemas, database structures, and extensions.
• Provide technical support for Oracle databases, including diagnosis and resolution of performance, configuration, and availability issues.
• Develop and maintain procedures, standards, and best practices for database operations in cloud environments.
• Administer high‑availability and disaster recovery configurations using Oracle Data Guard.
• Implement and manage replication solutions such as Oracle GoldenGate.
• Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, and resource management for high‑volume workloads.
• Conduct regular database backups, restores, patching, and upgrades.

Qualifications

Strong knowledge of Oracle Exadata architecture and database administration best practices.
Expertise in Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM) and storage management concepts.
Proficiency in Oracle database installation, patching, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
Strong database performance tuning and optimization skills.
Advanced understanding of database design principles, indexing, access patterns, and locking strategies.
Ability to troubleshoot complex database, operating system, and storage-related issues.
Proficiency with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and Oracle Cloud Control.
Excellent SQL programming and query optimization skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a production support environment.
Willingness to participate in on-call support rotations and weekend maintenance activities.

Experience Experience Requirements

Minimum 5 years of experience with Oracle Exadata architecture, including Storage Cells, InfiniBand Networking, Smart Scan, and Hybrid Columnar Compression (HCC).
Minimum 5 years of experience managing storage using Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM), including ASM disk group administration and monitoring.
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience installing, patching, upgrading, and maintaining Oracle Database software and Exadata components, including PSU, DBRU, and Release Updates.
Minimum 2 years of experience with Oracle database and Exadata storage-layer performance tuning and optimization.
Minimum 7 years of experience designing and optimizing Oracle database schemas, access patterns, indexing strategies, locking mechanisms, and overall database performance.
Minimum 7 years of experience troubleshooting and resolving complex issues across Oracle databases, operating systems, and Exadata storage infrastructure.
Minimum 2 years of experience using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) or Oracle Cloud Control for monitoring, diagnostics, and performance management.
Minimum 7 years of experience in SQL development, query writing, and performance tuning.
